Gyazo Tutorial and Weekly Reflection #2
Question #1: Reflections on whether you think including H5P tools would potentially be a useful tool at the grade level you hope to teach (or not).
I believe that H5P would be a useful tool to use at the grade level in which I hope to teach. I believe for one it would be a great way to help engage students and as well promote interaction amongst students. However, I also believe that it would be a great way to check for understanding and as a form of formative assessment to see where your students are at. It would allow the teacher to assess if learning targets are being met or if they need to be redirected before moving forward. One concern around H5P tools would be to assure that they are inclusive and that the technology needed to interact with the tools are accessible for all to benefit from equally. Therefore, there is a need to address UDL when using tools such as H5P to ensure inclusive learning.
Question #2: Describe how you could use video or audio editing as the assignment medium for the subject and grade level you will be teaching (if at all), and what you could do to make the assignment as engaging as possible.
I believe for social studies at the high school level that video editing tools such as H5P could be very beneficial for learning purposes. For example, you could have an interactive question or poll that engages students at the start of a lesson. As well, you can check for understanding at the end of your lesson to see whether or not your lesson was a success. I believe during the lesson you could make it more engaging and interactive by including links to resources and other online sources. For example, part way through a lesson you could link a URL to a kahoot! (https://kahoot.com/) to not only check for students understanding, but as a means to help keep students engaged in the lesson in a fun way. I feel more comfortable in regards to using video editing, however, I do not feel comfortable enough yet to include audio editing and am unsure how I would utilize it into my lessons. Therefore, working with audio editing is a goal of mine moving forward in this course.
