Weekly Reflection #3 (AI)

Question #1: What are some of the major limitations of GenAI?

I believe that the most major limitations of AI in general, and not just GenAI is the accuracy of the information being provided. In general, I have noticed when I have used AI to search information up quickly, I have noticed that it is not always the most accurate. I am able to decipher between the information in which I know is accurate and that is not factually accurate. Now this is a clear concern when students are using AI as it is important to educate students that this information being presented isn’t always accurate. I think that students can use AI search engines, as long as they are educated on fact checking and AI not always being 100% correct for all situations.

Question #2: Talk about how you’ve found GenAI useful or not for educational purposes.

I think one of the most useful ways in which I have found AI useful for educational purposes has been by using it to help me for studying purposes. For example, I have inputted or had classmates input our class notes into notebookLM before and generate study guides for us. I found this very helpful and time saving as I could jump into my studying quicker and not have to format my study guide. Another way I have found AI helpful is by generating podcasts to either help me for study purposes, or for assignments. I enjoy doing my own research and then putting it into a podcast style assignment. For example, my classmate and I last semester did our own research on creating a more inclusive PHE learning environment and dynamic in schools. It was one of my favourite assignments from last semester where we created a podcast through notebookLM.
