Free Inquiry Blog Post #1
My topic for my free inquiry blog post is: The History of Location in Victoria, B.C. (Settler and Indigenous)
The reason for choosing this topic for one is I want to learn more about local locations due to a personal interest in them. Secondly, I want to learn more information on local locations so I can educate my future students on them.
My goals are to become more education on local places in Victoria, B.C. not only from a settler perspective. However, I want to learn more about local locations from an Indigenous standpoint, which I find unfortunately is less documented and less readily accessible. Therefore, I want to seek out and find this information.
I think that resources such as local articles and archives will be extremely useful for my project. However, so far I have found it super helpful finding and using information that has been provided in person at these locations.
An example of this would be the educational piece I found provided at Esquimalt Lagoon here:

As well, I will make use of local archives such as Saanich Archives and Victoria Archives.
Locations so far that I intend on documenting consist of Royal Roads University, Esquimalt Lagoon, Mount Douglas Park, Cordova Bay Beach etc….
